What The Second Rep Stands For (And why I started this blog in the first place)
Let’s start with the name.
In the gym, the first rep is easy. You’re fresh. Focused. Maybe even feeling a little heroic.
But the second rep?
That’s when your brain might say “Are we sure about this?”
That’s when your body reminds you it’s been sitting at a desk for 10 years.
That’s also when the real work begins.
This blog is about that rep — the one that matters more than the first.
The one that shows up in training, in career shifts, in comebacks, in life.
Who I Am

I’m a strength coach with almost a decade of hands-on gym experience — coaching athletes, professionals, and everyday people who just want to feel strong again.
I’m a CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist), an Animal Flow coach, NASM CPT, and I’ve worked with mobility clients at StretchLab. I also actively compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, so when I talk about building functional, durable strength, I live it too.
Right now, I’m based in Connecticut, but I’ll be relocating to Austin, Texas within the next few years to grow this into something even bigger.
What The Second Rep Means
You’ve built a career. Maybe a family. You’ve lived some life.
You’re not “starting over.” You’re starting stronger.
The second rep is about showing up with experience. With humility. With the decision to train now, so you can live better later.
This isn’t about chasing aesthetics.
It’s about durability. Energy. Longevity.
What You’ll Find Here
If you’re in your 30s or beyond, and you want to train smarter (not just harder), you’re in the right place. (Though I welcome all ages to be here! There's good info here after all)
Here’s what you can expect:
- Practical training and movement tips
- Advice for staying consistent while balancing life
- Insights from both the gym and the mat
- The occasional self-deprecating joke and probably a meme or two
I’ll keep it real — and I’ll keep it useful.
What’s Next
For now, The Second Rep is a blog and newsletter — a place to share ideas, insight, and encouragement.
Coaching services will be coming down the line, and I’ll let you know when that’s live. My goal is to create a space that supports long-term strength online, and eventually in person.
